2nd Transnational Meeting Erasmus+ KA2 “Pro-Active Lifestyle” (PAL) in Katerini

LTTA 1: “Health and Wellbeing”

The 2nd Transnational Meeting of the European Erasmus + KA2 program “Pro-Active Lifestyle (PAL)”, LTTA 1: “Health and Wellbeing”, which was hosted by the Laboratory Center of Katerini, from 9 to 13 February 2026, was completed with excellent organization and positive reviews. The aim of the program is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle through education and cooperation between partners from Romania, Turkey, Estonia and Greece. Specifically, the program was attended by 4 teachers and 10 students from Turkey and Romania, who together with the Greek students and teachers had the opportunity to communicate, collaborate, be educated, exchange views and get to know the culture of our region.

The meeting agenda focused on the themes of “Health and Wellness” and included a wide range of activities:

  • Educational Presentations: Students presented topics such as “Healthy and Unhealthy Foods in School Canteens”, “Food Groups for Planning Healthy Meals” and “The Importance of the Mediterranean Diet”. A speech by a nutritionist on “Nutrition in Adolescence” was also given.

  • Experiential Workshops: Workshops were organized at the Katerini Laboratory Center (EK) for "Food Pyramid Design", practical cooking workshops for healthy snacks and desserts, aiming at interaction and introducing participants to the culture of the Mediterranean diet.

  • Athletic Activities: Participants took part in climbing activities indoors in the gym and in games to promote teamwork and communication.
  • Educational Visits: Visits were made to local product producers (Chrysostomoustos Winery, Kitros, Pieria), to the American Agricultural School of Thessaloniki, to the Archaeological Museum of Dion and to the Olympus National Park Information Center where a guided tour and virtual ascent of Olympus took place. This was followed by a walk on the Enipeas River path at the foot of Olympus with the group of students and teachers.

The meeting successfully promoted intercultural communication, the exchange of good practices and the awareness of students and teachers on health, nutrition and wellness issues. Participants completed evaluation questionnaires and received their certificates of participation during the closing ceremony.

The next meeting of the project is expected to take place again in Katerini, continuing the important work of promoting an active lifestyle among young people.
