The Katerini Laboratory Center in Brussels within the framework of the European IMPACT program.
The Katerini Laboratory Center actively participated with five teachers in the international educational workshop that took place in Charleroi, Belgium, from February 3 to 5, 2026, within the framework of the European Erasmus+ program KA220-SCH entitled: IMPACT – Increasing Migration and Climate Change Public Awareness through Collaboration and Teaching
The workshop was hosted at Collège Saint-Michel and organized by the partner Servicius ASBL, with the participation of educators, youth workers and social workers from different European countries, aiming to strengthen the skills of the educational community in understanding and highlighting the relationship between climate change and migration.
During the work, participants had the opportunity to experience innovative pedagogical approaches and experiential activities, such as role-play simulations, mapping of migration routes, educational games based on the theory of the “domino effect” of the climate crisis, real-world data analysis (Data Detectives), as well as visual storytelling activities (PhotoVoice). Particular emphasis was placed on dialogue and critical thinking through structured debates on the acceptance of climate migrants.

The program also included visits of high educational value, such as to the Fedasil refugee reception center and the European Parliament in Brussels, giving participants the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with the European reality and the political dimensions of the issue.
The participation of the Katerini Laboratory Center in the workshop contributed substantially to the enrichment of the pedagogical practices of its teachers, who will transfer the experience and educational material to the school community, strengthening environmental awareness, social justice and the cultivation of active citizenship among students.

The IMPACT program seeks to create a network of cooperation between European schools and institutions, promoting education as a key tool for understanding and addressing contemporary global challenges that link climate change to migration.
The Katerini Laboratory Center continues its dynamic participation in European actions that enhance the modernization of education and the formation of active and aware citizens.
