1st International Meeting in Turin - Erasmus FEEL

The Laboratory Center of Katerini (LC Katerini) participated in the first Transnational Meeting of the approved European program entitled "Fostering RefugEEs inclusion – FEEL", which took place in Turin, Italy from 2 to 5 October 2023.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Katerini Community Centre, Mr. Dimitrios Sidiropoulos, and the Informatics teacher of the Model EPAL, Mr. Georgios Papadopoulos.

The FEEL project (feel-project.eu) aims to contribute to supporting teachers, school principals, as well as workers in organizations for young people and immigrants, especially Ukrainians, so that they can more effectively manage the integration of these people into the education system and the local society in general.

The meeting began with the presentation of the participating organizations (EK Katerinis, Ecepaa – Belgium, AMECE – Italy, Spsek – Czech Republic) and the presentation of the relevant agenda. Then the objectives of the project were analyzed by the project coordinator Mr. Gabriele Sospiro from Belgium. The project is largely based on the results of the European WAY project, way-project.eu and for this reason an extensive reference was made to this specific project. In the afternoon of the same day, an educational visit was held at the Sermig-Arsenale organization (sermig.org), whose purpose is to combat hunger and promote development and solidarity with the poor, with particular attention to young people. It is made up of a large number of people, who support the organization daily with voluntary work and sponsorships.

On the second day of the program, an extensive report was made on the identification of good practices identified in the participating countries regarding the education and integration of Ukrainian immigrants. The next steps regarding the research to be carried out in each country using questionnaires and interviews were analyzed and the initial design of the toolkit that will be used for the training of those involved was carried out. In addition, the E.C. of Katerini, as the designated responsible body for promoting the results of the program, presented the strategy that will be followed for the communication between the partners and the dissemination of the results of the program. Finally, a representative of the Municipality of Turin made a presentation on the policy and practices it follows in the management of Ukrainian immigrants, especially children, for their integration into the local society.

The next in-person meeting of the partners will take place in Katerini, in January 2024.
