2nd International Meeting in Katerini - FEEL

The second Transnational Meeting of the Erasmus+ project entitled "Enhancing the Integration of Refugees - FEEL" took place in Katerini, Greece, from 15 to 18 January 2024.

This project, which is important both at the European level and at the level of the participating countries (Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic and Greece), focuses on the integration of refugees, with a special emphasis on Ukrainian citizens.

The meeting was hosted at the Katerini Laboratory Center (K.K. Katerini) and began with a welcome by the director of the center. The Greek pedagogical team provided information about the school structure and the areas of Katerini and Pieria. A tour of the center’s laboratories followed.

After the presentation of the relevant agenda of the meeting, results were presented on the findings of the Best Practices Survey, conducted in all participating countries, regarding the integration of Ukrainian refugees into the education system and the local community. The results of a relevant focus group survey were also presented, capturing in detail the current situation, challenges, possible solutions and perceptions of the involved parents, students, teachers, school principals and social actors.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to the planning of the upcoming training in Rakovník, Czech Republic, scheduled for April. Each country agreed to address a specific topic related to the project and to conduct relevant training for the participants.

On the second day, the group visited the NGO Katerinis Voluntary Action Group at the "Smoke Station". The tour, led by the person in charge, included detailed explanations of their functions and activities. The day concluded with preparations for the training meeting in the Czech Republic, focusing on planning activities and strategic development.

The meeting closed with discussions on management issues, dissemination, communication policy, next steps of the project and with the evaluation of the Transnational Meeting by the participants.
