Students and teachers from Riga, Latvia, and specifically from the school Rīgas 72. Vidusskola, recently visited our city, as part of their collaboration with the Laboratory Center of Katerini and the Model Vocational High School of Katerini. This joint action is part of the European Erasmus+ programs entitled “Planet A: Taking Action for a Greener Future” and eTwinning entitled “Greener Schools, Smaller Footprints: Small Steps, Big Change for Our Planet”.
During the visit, various activities and educational excursions were held. These included a visit to the Eastern Olympus Regional Center in Palios Panteleimonas and participation in the “On the Paths of Olympus” program, a guided tour of the Katerini Tobacco Plant with information about the work of the Pieria Volunteer Group, as well as a visit to the Katerini Museum of Technology.
Greek and Latvian students had the opportunity to meet, collaborate and exchange experiences through a series of workshops, such as familiarization games, tree planting, research, reed making, as well as the creation of digital posters and videos. At the same time, participants learned about aspects of each country's cultural tradition, through presentations of traditional dances and the exchange of local delicacies.
The visit ended in a particularly warm atmosphere, with students and teachers from both countries expressing their satisfaction, exchanging thanks and renewing their interest in future collaborations.
