The Katerinis Laboratory Center in Rakovnik, Czech Republic

The Katerini Laboratory Center participated in an international workshop in Rakovnik, Czech Republic, within the framework of the European Erasmus+ KA2 program entitled FEEL (Fostering reFugees inclusion), feel-project.eu.

Specifically, five teachers, along with the Director of the Katerini Community Center, participated in the work of the training meeting from Monday, April 1, 2024, to Thursday, April 25, 2024.

The topic of the meeting was the integration of immigrant students (especially Ukrainians) into the education system. The following sections were analyzed in detail: a. Increasing the participation of parents and the local community in school, b. Language gap, solutions, the use of technology, c. Psychological aspects: difficulty of integration and socialization - Training of teachers on integration and intercultural education with the participation of psychologists, pedagogues and sociologists d. Increasing the participation of immigrant students in school activities.

The meeting took place at the Rakovnik Vocational High School (Střední průmyslová škola Emila Kolbena Rakovník) as well as at the offices of the American multinational company Procter & Gamble. The Greek delegation was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Czech school. The work began with the welcome by the Director of the school unit and continued with the presentation of the objectives of the program. The program, which is essentially a continuation of the Erasmus+ WAY program, aims to strengthen the skills of teachers for the more effective formulation of integration strategies for immigrant students (with a focus on students from Ukraine). The participating teachers (40 in total) had the opportunity to attend interesting workshops on the topics mentioned above.

Finally, the program coordinators organized the next steps, in order to transfer the acquired knowledge to each country (organization of workshops locally) and to publish the planned toolkit, which will be made available to the general public and in Greek, soon through the program website feel-project.eu.
